    OUR STORY

    The Beginning of Rasam Factory

In our home, rasam wasn’t just food – it was a feeling.

Though we’re Gujarati, rasam has been a part of our daily life for years. We’ve made it for friends, for family, for anyone in need of a little warmth and comfort. It became our thing. Everyone loved it, and slowly, we realized – this wasn’t just a family favorite. It was a shared love.

We also run restaurants in Coimbatore, serving North Indian and organic food. But something kept tugging at us.

Why not take this one humble dish – full of flavor, tradition, and healing – and bring it to people who’ve never really known what rasam can be? That thought sparked something bigger. And just like that, Rasam Factory was born.

Our mission is simple: To make real rasam accessible, soulful, and unforgettable. We’re bringing the South into kitchens across India – and beyond. Because once you’ve had a bowl of true Rasam, there’s no going back.

This isn’t just food. This is Rasam Factory.

    Why “Rasam” Out of Everything?

Ever wondered where rasam really comes from? Let’s take a trip back to Madurai, where the Saurashtra people first brought their love for cooking and created this flavourful dish using tamarind, pepper, and local spices. This became the rasam we know today, and it goes best with the right kind of rice. After trying many types, we found that Tanjore’s Ponni rice is the perfect match. It has a soft yet firm texture, stays fluffy, and blends beautifully with rasam without overpowering its taste. We bring this rice directly from Tanjore so you enjoy only the best without any compromise.

    9+ Flavorful Spices

Did you know the name rasam has its roots in both Tamil and Sanskrit? In Tamil, it refers to “extract,” and in Sanskrit, rasa means “juice.” Over time, ingredients like tomatoes, curry leaves, and lime added even more depth to its flavour. When the British tasted this spicy, tangy drink, they called it mulligatawny, inspired by the Tamil words milagu for pepper and thanni for water. Isn’t it amazing how rasam’s journey continues to bring warmth till today?

But here’s the best part: we didn’t just want to offer something traditional. We wanted it to be gut-friendly too, with a perfect mixture of whole spices. And that’s why rasam tops the list, bringing you not just flavour but three delicious reasons to love it even more.

I will never forget the taste of your rasam. It is just “perfect”, not too spicy or too sour. The rice you offered went well with the rasam. I totally loved it.

I ate your single-serve rasam combo for 3 days when I became sick. It tasted like home. Thank you for remembering it, team.
